Back in his days in law enforcement, the founder had first-hand experience with problems that his very own colleagues and officers faced. The street-side suspect identifications really were not safe, reliable, or legally sound in the real world. So, to change that, the man founded ShowUp Secure: a practical, court-worthy software platform built according to the realities officers face daily. His mission is simple: to protect victims, aid officers, and provide evidence so justice can be served.

The Problem We Solve
How does the workflow solve real problems?
Traditional street-side show-ups have always been plagued by so many problems. They can traumatize the victims, impose liability on the officers, and often lead to weak or unreliable evidence in court. ShowUp-Secured completely changes the face of show-ups through its safer, faster, and legally compliant digital-first approach. The solution shifts away from verbal witness confirmations and paperwork toward a secure and structured workflow that eliminates potential entanglements from the outset.
If the officer detains a suspect out in the field, they open a ShowUp-Secured session directly from their mobile device. The victim, at a safe distance, would receive a secure link to view the suspect through a one-way live video feed. This lets the victim participate without the fear of confrontation and retaliation- a huge improvement over in-person show-ups, wherein victims are often traumatized.
If the victim either confirms or rejects the suspect’s identity, they digitally sign the identification from their device in place of the old confirmed identification with verbal politics- even staunchly contested in a court of law- or with a written statement. The identification is completed once certified by the officer, who then seals it through the notarized e-notary system with no intervention of third-party services and no further delay.
The whole process is then logged with security measures and transformed into a PDF document that is court-ready, so it includes time-stamped metadata, digital signatures, location data, and a verified chain of custody that is compliant with all evidentiary standards like FRE 901, UETA, and the ESIGN Act. On the prosecution’s end, an unbroken record that stands against legal scrutiny is presented, thus minimizing the risks of exclusion or challenge on the evidentiary grounds.
